Jack Hilton is a fourth-year Music Industry major at the State University of New York College at Oneonta. He works as event support for the school's Union which includes setting up the sound and lighting for events in the union, as well as holding office hours during the week. He has been a part of the audio crew and booking committee in their Music Industry Club. He helped in recommending artists to bring to the school then worked during the shows with the equipment; setting up, breaking down, and switching between bands on stage as well.
Jack grew up on Long Island, New York and his obsession with electronic dance music started when he was attending Hampton Bays Middle School. After finally discovering music he loved, he became a frequent user of SoundCloud and has been using it to discover new music almost everyday since. He has witnessed the growth and success of many artists including Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Zedd, and more. He even started his own music promotion channel for small artists on YouTube, gaining over 200,000 views in only 5 months. Outside of Hunt Union and the Music Industry Club at SUNY Oneonta, Jack is very active on the Ultimate Frisbee team and is a part of the experimental music ensemble. He was part of a marketing team for a class project involving creating a new online business. He's completed classes in Contemporary Issues in the Music Industry, Legal Issues in the Music Industry, Music Supervision, Commerce/Consumerism in Music, Economics, Business Law, Marketing, Basic Musicianship, Survey of Theory I & II, and Audio Arts Production I & II. Beyond school Jack has worked at a Southampton Town’s tennis program for 6 years where he helps people from ages 5 - 50+, teaching them how to use proper technique and develop their skills. He has also worked on a commercial fishing boat, and at the Southampton Golf Club bussing tables and learning how to work fluently with others in a professional setting. |
